Rhyl’s Mayor

Rhyl’s Mayor 2014-15

At the Town Council’s Annual Meeting in the Council Chamber on Wednesday 21st May, Councillor Dave Simmons, was installed as Rhyl’s new Mayor for the 2014/15 Municipal Year.

Councillor Simmons spoke of the pride he would feel in representing the town and thanked his fellow Councillors for giving him this wonderful opportunity. He and the new Deputy Mayor, Councillor Barry Mellor, promised to do a good job for Rhyl and it’s Town Council.

Councillor Simmons confirmed that his wife Mrs Valerie Simmons would be his Mayoress and his Chaplain would be Rev. Stan Walker. He thanked them both for their support.

Councillor Simmons advised that after much thought, the Rhyl RNLI Lifeboat Station and the Conwy and Denbighshire Branch of the MS Society would be his chosen charities for his year in office, which he looked forward to working with and to raising their profile (and a little money) for over the next 12 months.

"It's a real honour to be elected as Mayor of this great town of ours"
